How I Design a Bespoke Celebration: My Process From First Call to Last Song

No two weddings should sound or feel the same. My work is to design an experience that is a true reflection of you, the couple, from the first song your guests hear to the last one on the dance floor. That takes a real process, not a fixed package. Here is how I partner with couples to craft a celebration, what I bring as a single all-in-one artist, and how the planning actually works once you book.

What does an all-in-one wedding artist provide?

Rather than coordinating several vendors, many of my couples choose one artist for the full arc of the day. Across 15+ years and 500+ weddings, I serve as:

  • Live musician: Acoustic guitar and vocals for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and intimate moments like a custom first-dance arrangement.
  • DJ: A full reception that reads the room and keeps every generation dancing.
  • Master of Ceremonies: A natural voice on the microphone, on the mic since age 15, guiding announcements, toasts, and the flow of the evening.
  • Officiant: When couples want it, I have officiated weddings as well.

One person who can play your ceremony, host your reception, and DJ your dance floor means a unified vision and a single point of trust, which is difficult to assemble from separate hires.

How does your planning process work after we book?

Once you book, we begin with a video chat and build a living Google Doc together, a single evolving home for your timeline, music, and every logistical detail. Because I have run 500+ weddings, I know the questions to ask, including many couples did not realize they needed to consider, and I guide you through each one so nothing is left to chance.

You hold as much control over the music as you want. Some couples arrive with a detailed vision; others prefer to share a feeling and trust me to shape it. Both are right. I provide example playlists, creative suggestions, and hands-on refinement, and I offer custom remixes, mashups, and live performance to make each musical moment feel like yours.

How do you customize the music to us?

The soundtrack is built around your story. We talk through must-plays, do-not-plays, and the vibe you want for each part of the day. I have created cocktail hours blending classic rock, reggae, and Motown that drew compliments all evening, remixed first-dance songs, and customized lyrics for an aisle walk. On the night, I read the room in real time, deciding what to play, when to lift the energy, and how to keep grandparents and college friends on the floor at the same time.

What kinds of celebrations do you design?

The process adapts well beyond a standard wedding:

  • Weddings, including wine country, Redwoods, barn, and estate venues
  • Indian and Jewish weddings, and other cultural and multicultural celebrations
  • B’nai Mitzvah and other family milestones
  • Corporate and private events
  • Celebrations of life

I have been trusted with weddings where cultural traditions blended, and with celebrations carrying real emotional weight. Understanding people and creating unity through music is why I chose this as my craft.

How does pricing and booking work?

Pricing reflects the experience you design, built around what your celebration actually calls for rather than a one-size package. Booking is straightforward: a 50% deposit is due six months before the event, with the final balance due two weeks after, so there is nothing to handle on your wedding day. Custom payment plans are available on request, and I carry $2,000,000 in event coverage with a Certificate of Insurance available for your venue.

The best first step is a conversation. We talk through your vision, I share honestly whether I am the right artist for it, and from there we design the day together.
